You can watch the 61" version from 10' without trouble. A 60"+ standard set is difficult to watch from less than 12-15', due to the easily visible line I looked at a 16x9 Mitsubishi, but it suggested that all 4x3 viewing be zoomed to fill the whole screen so that the side bars wouldn't burn in the image.
